Corporate Partnerships
With support from individuals and our partners, the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) champions policies and programs that lift children out of poverty; protect them from abuse and neglect; and ensure their access to health care, quality education, and a moral and spiritual foundation. CDF is proud to partner with corporations who support our mission and want to express their values while amplifying their brands.
Boeing
The Boeing Company committed $1 million to the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools® program to offer culturally responsive STEM education, called “CDF Freedom to STEM.”
This investment allows CDF Freedom Schools to build its STEM capacity to more robustly and intentionally expose Black students to STEM, addressing the racial inequalities that persist in access to high-quality STEM education.
Thanks to Boeing’s support, CDF Freedom Schools’ Servant Leader Interns (SLIs)–classroom teachers who implement the CDF Freedom Schools curriculum–are educated on STEM inequality and its consequences and trained on the “CDF Freedom to STEM” pedagogy in conjunction with The Boeing Company’s Future U content, learning best practices for successfully engaging Black students with STEM.
Freddie Mac
For more than 30 years, CDF and Freddie Mac have enjoyed a partnership rooted in improving the odds for children across the nation. Collaboratively, we’ve worked to increase asset building opportunities for children and increase economic stability for families. Freddie Mac has also supported our policy work and our CDF Freedom Schools programming. Today our partnership has a renewed focus on strengthening families and priming our CDF Freedom Schools program scholars and Servant Leader Interns for 21st Century jobs in high-demand fields such as IT, Human Resources, and more.
Freddie Mac has been particularly generous to our Washington, D.C. CDF Freedom Schools program sites serving students at J.C. Nalle Elementary School and residing in the Marshall Heights Community of D.C. Freddie Mac has contributed in-kind resources including, but not limited to, school supplies and computers for scholars.
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation
For more than a decade, The Dollar General Literacy Foundation (DGLF) has been a major supporter of the CDF Freedom Schools program. Together, CDF and the DGLF have ensured K-12th-grade students across the nation enjoy high-quality, out-of-school time summer learning focused on improving their proficiency in reading and literacy outcomes, as well as their interest and motivation to learn. Over the last 10 years, the CDF-DGLF Foundation has benefitted more than 120,000 students.
3M
3M has teamed up with CDF to promulgate racial and education equity in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. 3M’s funding will support the provision of high-quality STEM education to over 800 local CDF Freedom Schools program scholars this summer.
New York Life Foundation
