Let The Children Come: Empowering Adults to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse
Our congregations and community organizations endeavor to provide children with opportunities for personal and spiritual growth surrounded by strong and supportive networks of caring adults. Child sexual abuse casts a long shadow on all of us; and, it is likely the most prevalent health problem children face, with the most serious array of consequences. In fact, 1 in 10 children will experience sexual abuse before their 18th birthday.
This session will engage participants in Darkness to Light?s award-winning prevention program ? Stewards of Children®. Participants will learn the program?s practical five-step approach to protecting children. The goal of this workshop, which is limited to adults, is for participants to become confident and competent, knowing how to prevent child sexual abuse and react skillfully if it occurs. Each participant will receive a workbook with tools and resources. The Stewards of Children® training will be led by Emma Jordan-Simpson, a Darkness to Light Authorized Facilitator.
