As a young child living in Peru, Danitza experienced many hardships, including being separated from her mother who had moved to the United States. When Danitza moved to the U.S., she struggled to reestablish a relationship with her mother while adapting to a new culture in a new country.
But thanks to her family, community, and school, she’s overcoming her challenges. In recognition for her hard work and perseverance, Danitza was awarded a 2018 Children’s Defense Fund Beat the Odds® scholarship—a program that provides financial support, mentoring, internship placements, and career guidance. Help us support more extraordinary students like Danitza by giving to the Children’s Defense Fund now.
