WASHINGTON, D.C.— The Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) announced today the appointment of Rebecca D. Beauregard, longtime advocate, former Congressional staff member and former elected official, to the position of Director of Government Relations.

Ms. Beauregard comes to CDF after serving for several years as a key leader in her New Jersey community. She was elected to three terms on the Cranbury Township Committee and served as Cranbury’s Mayor. She also was President of Family and Children’s Services of Central New Jersey and worked as a senior congressional advisor to the Population Resource Center in Princeton. Her Congressional experience includes service as staff director to the House Subcommittee on Housing, Select Committee on Aging.  Ms. Beauregard received her B.A. in government from Indiana University and completed post-graduate studies at The George Washington University. As CDF’s Director of Government Relations. Ms. Beauregard will be a central liaison with federal, state and local government officials and work with them and other child advocates to enact legislation that improves the lives of all children in America.
