Shaquite Pegues, director of Ella Baker Leadership Development, is a product of the CDF Freedom Schools program. Having attended the program for many years as a student, she matriculated through all of the program’s positions, and has served as the program’s director of Ella Baker Leadership Development for the past 11 years. Shaquite is a native of Bennettsville, SC and serves the local community through a number of avenues. She is president of the Pee Dee Region Spelman College Alumnae Chapter, vice president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Upsilon Sigma Omega Chapter, and an active member of the NAACP. Shaquite obtained her bachelor’s degree from the number one HBCU, Spelman College, and her master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University. Shaquite has received a number of awards and recognitions, but none greater than the blessing of working with the Children’s Defense Fund.
