Nafeesah Ali Goldsmith

RISE

Nafeesah is a graduate student at Monmouth University pursuing a Masters in Criminal Justice. She holds a BA in Sociology and is an alumna of Passaic County Community College, Rutgers University, and Douglas Residential College.

She began her college career while serving a 15-year prison sentence at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women. It was via Clinton College Bound/ NJ-STEP that Nafeesah began to change her life. She soon became a proud member of the Mountainview Community, where she was afforded the opportunity to attend Rutgers. Nafeesah invests her time speaking on topics such as incarceration, reentry, the school to prison pipeline, and the effects of incarceration on families and communities. Her work around criminal justice reform has lead to the passing of landmark legislation in the state of New Jersey. Nafeesah works as a director with Prodigal Son’s & Daughters Redirection Services where she’s assisting in spearheading the launch of the PSD Ghana branch.
