Bridget Gabrielle Hall is a doctoral student at Vanderbilt University in the Graduate Department of Religion, researching in the area of Ethics and Society and minoring in African American and Diaspora Studies. Hall is originally from Greensboro N.C. and is the proud mother of an amazing seventh-grade art enthusiast named Aniya. Hall completed her Bachelor of Arts in History and Religion at Greensboro College, graduating summa cum laude. After completing her bachelor’s degree, Hall went on to earn a Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University.
Hall’s research explores the social and political life of racially and economically marginalized children and the relationship between discursive structures of racial ideology, the process of social construction, and the formation of public imaginaries that effect their life chances. Her scholarship is grounded in social and political ethics with an interdisciplinary framework that integrates discourse analysis, childhood studies, black feminist epistemology, and critical race theory. Hall’s research interests and vocational commitment to advocating for children and their families are fundamentally informed by and grounded in her experience with the CDF Freedom Schools movement as an Ella Baker Trainer, Site Coordinator, and Servant Leader Intern.
