Janette Jones is a native of Harrisburg, PA, but now calls Birmingham, AL, home. Jones holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Pennsylvania State University, a Master of Education in Elementary Education from Alabama A&M University, and a Master of Education in Reading Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is certified in Elementary Education (K–6) and as a Reading Specialist (K–12). Jones has served as an educator for the past ten years and currently serves as a Reading Coach. She has served in the CDF Freedom Schools® program as a Site Coordinator and Project Director and is honored to return this year as a second-year Ella Baker Trainer. Jones is passionate about building a strong foundation for literacy in children and ensuring that children and families have access to books that reflect and represent them well.
