Charity Bickcom, a native of Chicago, IL, has always known that her passion and purpose was in education. Bickcom graduated from Virginia State University with her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. She is licensed to teach elementary education, and throughout her 6-year teaching career Bickcom has taught fourth grade and K-5 Small Group Mathematics. She was also named the 2023 Teacher of the Year. Bickcom is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Administration and Supervision. In 2019, Bickcom began her journey as a site coordinator at her alma mater for the CDF Freedom Schools® program. During her time there she has served as Site Coordinator and Program Director and is now serving in her first year as an Ella Baker Trainer. When she is not in the classroom, Bickcom coaches an elementary school run club, is captain of the Safety Patrol, and enjoys singing and visiting art exhibitions. She is dedicated to making the learning environment for her students one that is inviting and conducive to learning for all levels.
