Children’s Defense Fund appoints Sheri Brady Vice President of Strategy & Program

Former Aspen Institute and W.K. Kellogg Leader will join Executive Team in June

Sheri BradyWashington, D.C. — In a homecoming of sorts, Sheri Brady will join the Children’s Defense Fund’s (CDF) Executive Team as Vice President of Strategy & Program. As a student, Brady was an intern for the leading child advocacy organization. In the new role of Vice President of Strategy & Program she will oversee the organization’s programmatic work, ensuring that CDF’s efforts in policy advocacy, service delivery, and movement building are aligned to maximize impact on children’s lives.

“We are excited to welcome Sheri home to the Children’s Defense Fund as vice president of Strategy and Program,” said Reverend Dr. Starsky Wilson, President and CEO. “Her leadership in community problem-solving, public policy, and philanthropy will be central to strengthening our capacity to deliver results for America’s children.”

Brady joins CDF from the Aspen Institute Forum for Community Solutions, where she served most recently as the Director of Strategic Partnerships, managing an emerging and expanding body of work focused on supporting community power-building and equity which included overseeing key partnerships focused on building philanthropic field practices around community-centered grantmaking.

Prior to her work at the Aspen Institute, Brady served as a Senior Policy Fellow at Voices for America’s Children, where she managed a policy portfolio on child welfare, among a variety of additional policy issues, and provided technical training to member organizations to strengthen their advocacy on the status of children and the need for increased investments. Previous work included terms as Director of Policy at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Director of Policy at the National Council of Nonprofits, and Program Director at the Center for Policy Alternatives.

Brady earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Wheaton College in Norton, MA and her law degree from the University of California at Berkeley. She will begin her time with the Children’s Defense Fund on June 7, 2021.
